Are you a Contractor?

Welcome to the “Contractors Page”

I know you guys are busy so I’ll try to be brief… with new housing starts slowing, the reno market is where the action is at. You need to make the most of every contract you win and an installed sound system is a great way to increase your margins and create a happy customer. Clients almost always see the benefit of wiring speakers right into the walls and ceiling at the time of renovation...but most won’t think of it if you don’t suggest it. They’re missing out and so are you.

In some cases you guys (and gals) might already have audio specialists that come in and do this work for you. That’s fine if you’re talking a sophisticated home integration set up, but the majority of clients just want to improve room ambience with installed sound, or to put speakers on either side of the new wall-mounted TV. In this case, your home theatre specialist is charging you large for what amounts to a fairly simply installation. If you are the electrician coming in, it’s old school, pull the 16 /4 speaker wire and get the drywaller to cut the holes. Or you can do these steps yourself...it’s not rocket science. All that’s really left is to connect the wire to the speaker and mount it in the wall or ceiling, just like a jiffy box. In other words…don’t bring in an audio consultant when you can do it yourself. And who earns the dough?  Margin on the job is margin on the job.

When stereo stores and audio consultants are fixated on the latest and the newest products on the market which only apply to the top 20% of the projects… there is still the 80% of home owners looking for an easy solution and someone to install it. That’s where Ready2Rock and you… the contractor or electrician come in.

We’ll show you how easy it is!!!

Ready2Rock systems are easy to sell, easy to install and easy for your customer to use. Unlike other systems on the market, the Ready2Rock volume controls are fully automatic impedance matching. In simple terms… there are no adjustments to worry about and no speaker selector switching box required either. Our VC-5A volume controls are as easy as just four wires in from the stereo and four wires out to the speakers in that room. Plug and play!

It’s a good idea to install a volume control in every room, including the room that houses the stereo. That way any set of speakers can be turned off. As for the connections, I have different diagrams for different options on the “Wiring Diagram” tab. If you get stumped… there are a few great tips on the “Tips and Tricks” tab. I won’t tell anyone that you visited that page.

Ready2Rock also offers a unique VC-J8 junction box, it’s kind of like a sub panel for the sound system. It can be mounted behind the stereo to easily tidy up all the connections or mount it in the centre of the attic as a hub for all the rooms or zones. That way, you don’t have to run as much wire which saves costs on cable and labour.

All our speakers are paintable, moisture proof and designed for retrofit which doesn’t require a rough in ring, keeping the cost down and the installation straight forward. The speakers mount in a standard 2 X 4 wall and require no extra blocking or backing. Just cut a hole in the drywall in between the studs or joists, connect the speaker wires to the red and black spring terminals on the speaker and place in the hole. Remove the grill and tighten the phillips screws, that automatically turns the mounting tabs (like in a jiffy box). The tabs pull against the back of the drywall and hold the speaker in place. The speaker can be covered with vapour barrier and insulation batting...but avoid blown in insulation without a vapour barrier or bag as it gets in between the speaker cone and frame and stops the speaker from moving properly.

Still don’t believe us how easy Ready2Rock is… check out our product training video in the “Step by Step Videos” tab, drop me a note or give us a call if you have any other questions.
